Blue Mosque, Shah Alam, Malaysia

Marianne and I visited this site on the last day of our holiday heading back from Iceland. We were taken around by a friendly local, Marianne dressed in traditional garb and walked down for a shoot for me. We found this amazing structure awe inspiring even though we are not strongly of any faith.

Information about the blue mosque from Malaysia Tourism :
Shah Alam is located about 25km south west of Kuala Lumpur.

The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque is one of the most famous landmark in the city of Shah Alam. Also known as the Blue Mosque, it is one of the largest mosques in South East Asia. The blue and silver dome is 51.2m in diameter and rises up to a height of 106.7m. There are 4 minarets with a height of 142.3m making them one of the world's tallest. The dome's outer surface is clad with vitreous enamel-baked triangular steel panel. It can accommodate 24,000 worshippers at any one time.

Image was taken as a 3 shot HDR however the only thing the HDR image added was the colours on Marianne and the warm glow of the sun.

Blue Mosque, Shah Alam, Malaysia

As in the previous picture, we visited the blue mosque on the last day of our trip. Its minarets spiralling 400 feet in the air and its marble columns awe inspiring. In keeping with the theme of our trip, there seemed to be noone at the destinations we chose.
This panorama was 6 shots stitiched in autopano pro after applying the same custom preset in lightroom to all of them. Each had fill flash with a speedlight unit.

Petaling Street, Malaysia

On the way back from Iceland, we stopped by a few sights in KL and spent much time in Petaling street eating the hawker food we had missed for 2 and a half weeks in Iceland. We still brought the camera along for some candid shots here and there.
Shot taken as a single shot - added grouped layers for colour balance and desaturation with the monk masked out. 50% neutral gray layer for dodging the monk with a slightly yellow brush. Lens correction -30.

Petronas Towers, KL, Malaysia

I haven't finished with Iceland yet but I thought I'd give it a break to show some of the images from our brief stop in Malaysia. Once again , there are so many shots of the petronas towers that I tried to find a viewpoint that I hadn't seen much of. This was taken from a bridge a short walk from Suria KLCC shopping complex. It was a fluke the 5d was working this night so at least I got one shot off with it!

Changi Airport Butterfly Farm, Singapore

Of all the airports we have visited around the world to date, Singapore airport wins hands down in terms of comfort, service and convenience. This butterfly farm was another one of those experiences to help pass the time there among other activities such as free movies and eating :)
Not really a bokeh shot but HBW anyway!
