Η Aγιάσος,είναι μία πολύχρωμη κωμόπολη ,στην καρδιά ενός πυκνού δάσους του όρους Όλυμπος (θηλυκό) στη νήσο Μυτιλήνη.
Παρόλο που δεν είναι παράλιος οικισμός συγκεντρώνει πυκνό τουρισμό για τρείς λόγους:
1ος την σπάνια,για τόσο μεγάλη έκταση οικιστική συνοχή,ομορφιά και γραφικότητα.Η παραδοσιακή αρχιτεκτονική στα λαϊκά σπίτια(πέτρινα με την σκούρα χαρακτηριστική πέτρα του νησιού) αλλά και με πολύχρωμα επιχρίσματα ,στα επιμέρους εντυπωσιακά διατηρητέα κτήρια με σαφείς νεοκλασικές επιρροές και στους Ιερούς Ναούς.
Γι αυτό και συνολικά ο οικισμός έχει κηρυχθεί παραδοσιακός από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού.
2ος τα υπέροχα προϊόντα των λαϊκών τεχνιτών σε κεραμική,ξυλογλυπτική και μικροεπιπλοποιΐα και
3ος κυρίως ο ιερός ναός της Παναγίας βρεφοκρατούσας με την ομώνυμη θαυματουργή εικόνα ο οποίος συγκεντρώνει όλο το χρόνο αλλά κυρίως στο μεγάλο πανηγύρι του 15 Αυγούστου χιλιάδες πιστούς από όλο τον κόσμο για να προσκυνήσουν την χάρη της.
Agiassos is a colorful small town, in the heart of mount Olympus (female) dense forest at the Mytilene island,north Aegean,Hellas (Greece).
Although not a coastal settlement,attracts important tourism for three reasons:
1st: the rare, for such a large extent residential coherence, beauty and picturesque. Traditional architecture in popular houses (stone with the dark characteristic stone of the island) but also with multicolored coatings, in individual impressively preserved buildings with clear neoclassical neoclassical .That is why the settlement as a whole has been declared traditional by the Ministry of Culture.
2nd: the wonderful products of the folk artisans in ceramics, wood carving and small furniture and
3rd: principally,the Holy Church of Our Baby-holding Lady with the homonymous miracle-working icon which gathers throughout the year but mainly at the great festival of August 15th thousands of believers from all over the world to worship her grace.
