A wide landscape that's getting even wider, little by little. This is a truly unique place. Let me explain:

Well, believe it or not, you can see TWO tectonic plates in this image. The Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Partk of Iceland is part of the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which extend the length of the Atlantic from north to south.

The plates are moving apart. That's the reason why we get volcanic fissures every now and then.

Historically, this site was home to the world's longest running Parliament, founded in this location in the year 930.
