The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual series of Military tattoos performed by British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and International military bands and display teams in the Scottish capital Edinburgh. The event takes place annually throughout August, as part of the wider Edinburgh Festival (a collective name for many independent festivals and events in Edinburgh in August).

A Crossed Swords Piper leaps for joy at the end of a very successful 2011 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, accompanied by Shetland Pony Mascot, Cruachan III, of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Next year's Tattoo, which pays tribute to The Queen's Diamond Jubilee together with the year of Creative Scotland, runs from 3-25 August 2012.

The Royal British Legion's annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall commemorates all those who have lost their lives in conflicts.

Attended by Her Majesty The Queen, Patron of The Royal British Legion, and senior members of the Royal Family, this year's programme included special guest artists, Rod Stewart, Pixie Lott, Andrea Bocelli and Gregory Porter performing alongside the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, the Bands of the Household Division, the Countess of Wessex String Orchestra, the Queen's Colour Squadron, the Band of HM Royal Marines, and the Band and Pipes of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
