I passed by one morning and realized this is the sort of place that I'd regret not having a photo of if it ever burned down. And that places like this seem to be disappearing quickly in San Francisco. A good place to catch live music, downstairs in the bar. As to the hotel upstairs, I've never been, but the reviews make me think it's a good place to catch bedbugs, or syphilis, or both.
This building is really of a certain era, which passed many years ago. Somehow, it's still here. Combined with that enormous Coca-Cola sign in the background, the entire scene is an only-in-San Francisco-original.

Found in an old folder from 2010, this sign once hung around the corner from where I live. It disappeared a few years ago. The building (and neighborhood) nows swarms with internet startups, the sidewalks are full of twenty-somethings who stare at their phones while walking on the sidewalk, who generally possess no social skills, and who commute to work on bizarre one and two-wheeled contraptions. Progress....bah!

Now closed, alas. Soon to host yet another nail salon, or perhaps an internet food delivery service. We hardly have enough of either here.
