The Netherlands-Lutje Schardam
View on pumping station C. Mantel, close to the village Schardam and lake Marken. In the year 2017 this station was put into operation by water board HHNK. The largest part of their management area in the Province North Holland (Schermerboezem) needed a third pumping station to ensure a stable water level. The stations' four pumps are able to process 2000 cubic metres per minute (about the content of an Olympic swimming pool). The station comes with a safe migration passage for fish. The last couple of (warm and dry) years indicate that from now on water inlet will be as important as water discharge. Image made with kite and camera (attached to the kite's line). © Tom Kisjes
