Near the small town Purmerend lies woodland that is planted about 20 years ago: the "Purmerbos". This woodland is divided in several sections; some are more recreational, others have some restrictions for the sake of wildlife.
The "Purmerbos" is one of the many nature reserves managed by Staatsbosbeheer, a public organization commissioned by the Dutch government.
