The construction of the narrow-gauge railroad was started by the Upper Silesian Railway Company on the basis of the license obtained from the Prussian state in 1851. The first sections of the network with a rail width of 785 mm were completed 2 years later. Over 150 years of existence of the Upper Silesian Narrow Gauge Railways have covered all major industrial facilities with their tracks: mines, steel mills, power plants and quarries.
