This is one many bird species introduced into the United States (1870) but it has not expanded much beyond its released area unlike the European Starling (1890) and the House Sparrow (1851). It seems to prefer areas where it does not have to compete with the slightly larger and more aggressive colonizer, the House Sparrow.
