Despite the name this creature is neither a scorpion nor a spider but is still classified as an arachnid and forms a separate order of arachnids alongside spiders and scorpions. The long whip-like first pair of legs which gives this arachnid its name are clearly visible in this shot.

Really spectacular insect. I've been trying for the longest time to get a shot of these nymphs and I had pretty much given up. Then today I had this guy sit still for me.
Given the similarities with the yellow-tipped antenna and the eye colourings I believe this is a nymph of the adults in the comments below that I photographed in May 2014. Also today I saw the adults and above nymphs in close proximity to each other.
