The ten-stamp mill is six times taller than its model in the Schoolhouse—we included the moon over its left shoulder for scale
American Boy Ten-Stamp Mill
This Fraser-Chalmers ten-stamp mill (1890) is currently being reassembled by Charlie Connell and a crew of volunteers. This mill came from a mine in Montana; all of the similar ones from this area were moved or scrapped out during the world wars. About 20 years ago it was dismantled and moved to Rosamond, California to be sold to Disneyland. It became surplus and sat for many years until we bought and moved it to Goffs in 1996. We have named it the American Boy in honor of one of the mines where it was installed years ago.
