One of my intentions for this years Advanced Photographer / Nikon #Photo24London event was to get some shots of Tower Bridge exactly like this one.......

For this shot I put the tripod as low as it would go to make the most of the 11mm lens I was using. The verticals aren't straight but that was never my intention.

Recently announced as winner of the 'Iconic London' category of the Nikon Photo24 competition.

Spiral Stair, Heals Store, Tottenham Court Road, London.

My final #Photo24London upload and appropriately it's a reworking of my first upload from the 24hr photoshoot. Initially I uploaded a version taken from the jpg but the highlights were blown slightly, this version results from a RAW file conversion and consequently I've been able to recover a considerable amount of detail. Funny thing is though, I'm not sure which I prefer. This version has subtlety but the original upload has impact ? What do you think ?

Photographing eye-catching window displays such as this Apple Store Apple watch display feels a little bit like cheating as a lot of time and money has gone into producing a visually arresting image and all I'm going is pressing the shutter. At least for this shot I used a 10.5mm fisheye which has given a curvature to an otherwise flat display thereby introducing an element of my own creativity.

This new light tunnel at Kings Cross Station has been on my 'list' for a while so I was glad to get there during this years #Photo24London event. Despite being mid-afternoon it was mostly deserted but there were just enough people around to add interest to the space.

I've less than 12 hours to upload shots to the Competition groups so I'm going to uploading quite a few between now and 6pm.

From a Kings Cross Press Release : "A new tunnel, with integrated light wall, opened yesterday at King’s Cross. The 90m long tunnel, which has a LED integrated light-wall running its entire length, was designed by Speirs + Major and delivered by The Light Lab. The tunnel itself has been designed by architects Allies & Morrison and links St Pancras International and King’s Cross St Pancras Underground stations to the new public spaces, restaurants, offices and homes at King’s Cross.

Commuters were treated to something a little different on Monday morning, as the tunnel was open to the public, with commuters able to enjoy the debut light installation called Pipette. The dedicated art work on display was created by Miriam Sleeman (The Cross Kings) and Tom Sloan (Tom Sloan Design) and is designed to evoke the colourful tapestry of King’s Cross through a tranquil yet animated design."

Some lovely early evening light on the Hungerford Bridge. Taken a few years ago during the Photo24 London event. I particularly like the pigeon top right as it seems to nicely finish the frame off.
