By excluding all context on this shot of the Wilkinson Eyre designed London 2012 Basketball Venue it's turned it into an abstract image. Congratulations to the Architects who've turned the temporary nature of the building into it's strength by expressing the structure behind the PVC exterior.

The Wilkinson Eyre designed Air Bridge at Gatwick Airport formed an impressive sight upon landing back from Marrakech.
From the Wilkinson Eyre website : "The Pier 6 Connector is a project delivered off-framework for British Airport Authority [BAA} at London Gatwick airport [LGW], connecting the existing North Terminal to a new satellite serving stand previously serviced by bus movements across the taxi apron. The 197m long bridge link provides for flow separated passenger movement and is the first such structure outside the US to span a live taxiway.
The bridge is composed of two decks cantilevered transversely from a central spine truss. The shallow arch profile, amended from a taller tied-arch reference design, allows visibility of the north terminal stands and runway from the VCT beyond. Each deck accommodates fixed and travelator paths, allowing for mid-span passenger viewing of taxiing aircraft passing beneath. The clearance is configured for passage of all operational aircraft up to the A380, which is not accommodated on the Pier 6 stands."

A panorama looking towards MediaCity at Salford Docks showing the Wilkinson Eyre footbridge. The bridge has only been completed in the last year or two, it makes for a great place to wander with a camera now as it's possible to do a circuit that takes in a couple of interesting bridges, The Lowry Centre, the Daniel Libeskind designed Imperial War Museum North and the MediaCity complex itself..

Apologies if you feel disappointed now seeing this having clicked a thumbnail but the quality of this shot of the Wellcome Collection spiral stair has suffered due to the need to use a high ISO (well, high for my ageing D300s anyway.....). I wasn't even too sure whether I should upload it but I just liked the composition too much too ignore it.
Taken during last weekends Advanced Photographer Magazine / Nikon #Photo24London, I'll just have to go back on a brighter day and explore the subject further.
