From Wikipedia : "Frederiksborg Castle (Danish: Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. Situated on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style.

After a serious fire in 1859, the castle was rebuilt on the basis of old plans and paintings. Thanks to public support and the brewer J. C. Jacobsen, the building and its apartments were fully restored by 1882 when it was reopened to the public as the Danish Museum of National History. Open throughout the year, the museum contains the largest collection of portrait paintings in Denmark. It also provides visitors with an opportunity to visit several of the castle's state rooms including the restored Valdemar Room and Great Hall as well as the Chapel and the Audience Chamber which were both largely spared by the fire and contain sumptuous decorations."

Not the most spectacular Castle in Slovenia but the views from the Castle are good and the town of Skofja Loka was a great place to stop off for a few hours.

This is probably my favourite of the shots I took at Jægerspris, I like the way the lamppost creates a counterpoint for the spire.

We visited Jægerspris as part of a big circular route around Zealand and consequently couldn't stop for long. I had a chance to see some of the gardens but only really scratched the surface of the large estate. Will need to go back some time........

From Wikipedia : "Jægerspris Castle (Danish: Jægerspris Slot), in Jægerspris on the Hornsherred peninsula west of Copenhagen, is a Danish manor house. It has belonged to the Danish monarchs for most of its history which dates back to the 13th century. In the 1850s it became a retreat for King Frederik VII and his morganatic wife Countess Danner, who sought refuge there to escape the controversy their marriage had caused among the establishment in Copenhagen. After the king's death, Countess Danner turned it into an asylum for women.

Today the castle serves as a historic house museum and is also noted for its park."

Another ridiculously long shutter speed, 1/4 second here, has resulted in an unsharp photo, but I still think it's an atmospheric shot of the Labyrinth under Buda Castle in Budapest.

The very iconic and recognisable Disneyland Castle, I think it's smaller than the LA version but it was a long time ago I went there. Also the designers have done clever things with the scale to make it look larger that it really is.

Definitely the last Disneyland Paris upload, though I suppose I should put some of the family ones on for the family to see.
