What do you think of this then. Does this subtle 'popping' add a subtle 'arty' edge to the photo or is it a bit naff. You decide.......

Usually when I take panned shots they are quite tightly framed. This is one of a series of shots taken over the last few weeks where I've tried to use a wider lens to capture more of the context.

I'm always on the lookout for photos of bikes because to me they say Oxford without being too obvious. This one was taken next to the Radcliffe Camera and I've used a sepia watercolour treatment to enhance the texture of the cobbles. It also has the side effect of hiding the chewing gum, sweet wrappers, cigarette ends etc.

When I come across a scene like this, particularly when the lighting is as good as it was here, then I hang about for a bit and get a few shots with different subjects. This one was actually the first in the series of shots I took but I think I prefer the one shown below.
