I will get back to uploading shots from my trip to Poland but first one last spiral stair shot and it's a monochrome treatment of yesterdays Blavatnik spiral upload.

Purists (and the Architects Herzog & de Meuron) might say I've overdone the concrete texture with my use of a Topaz Adjust Clarity plug-on but I think it makes for a more interesting image than it's straight colour version.

From Wikipedia : "The Blavatnik School of Government is located in the University of Oxford's Radcliffe Observatory Quarter on Woodstock Road, however its main entrance is on Walton Street. The building is designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron to promote open discussion, interaction and collaboration. The central forum is inspired by the idea of openness and transparency and connects all the floors together. Construction work started in autumn 2013, after some controversy, and ended in late 2015. The building is controlled by a combination of systems and technology that helps minimise its environmental impact.

The building is taller than Carfax Tower in the centre of Oxford, this dominating the site and causing opposition to the scheme by local residents in the Jericho district of the city and elsewhere. The site is immediately to the south of the café/bar Freud, in the historic 1836 Greek revival St Paul's Church on Walton Street. The scheme has been opposed by the cafe's owner, David Freud, due to its size compared to the church building. The site is also opposite the classical Oxford University Press building. In Spring 2013, a public meeting was held in St Barnabas Church and the building was described as "a concrete marshmallow".

This is the exterior of an apartment building on the edge of Oxford, taken in my role of in-house photographer for Riach Architects. Recently the building won an Oxford Preservation Trust Environmental Award.

I've posted some photos of this before but I've been back since and got some better lighting on this side of the building and some more of the landscaping has been carried out.

As a complete contrast to the previous Merton Street upload here's a shot of the Oxford University Information Engineering Building on Banbury Road. The building by RMJM Architects features a very slick glass facade in which some great reflections can be seen.

The Bennetts Associates Gateway Building has grown on me now it's complete, though I still miss the view of the 1960's Hilda Besse building behind. Hopefully I'll get a chance to explore these buildings further during the annual Oxford Open Doors weekend in September.

Perhaps more interesting architecturally will be the Zaha Hadid Softbridge building which has just broken ground recently only 50 metres away. Fingers crossed I've got permission to go on site at various points during construction so maybe you'll see some shots here soon.
