The Caruso St John designed Newport Street Gallery is I'm sure delighted to find itself on this years RIBA Stirling shortlist. Having been very impressed when I visited it's good to see such a refined, restrained building amongst it's more showier competitors.

From Wikipedia : "In 2010, Hirst was among the unsuccessful bidders to take over the Magazine Building, a 19th-century structure in Kensington Gardens, which reopened in 2013 as the Serpentine Sackler Gallery after its conversion by Zaha Hadid. In March 2012, he outlined plans to open a gallery in Vauxhall, London specifically designed to exhibit his personal collection, which includes five pieces by Francis Bacon. Located in a former theater carpentry and scenery production workshops redesigned by Caruso St John, the space runs the length of Newport Street in Vauxhall and will include six galleries, office space and a restaurant. It is due to open in October 2015.
Commenting on his collection, Hirst has said "As a human being, as you go through life, you just do collect. It was that sort of entropic collecting that I found myself interested in, just amassing stuff while you’re alive.""

I've taken this view of the entrance display of the Rick Mather Architects redesigned Ashmolean Museum before but I was happy with the sharpness, here I've retaken it with a higher ISO. The trickiest bit given the popularity of the Museum now was waiting to get this shot clear of people.

A fisheye shot from my first venture inside the recently opened Wilkinson Eyre designed Weston Library. This refurbished building at the end of Broad Street in Oxford used to be such a nondescript building so the transformation is quite considerable. The public can now enter to visit a cafe, a bookshop and a small (but well worth a visit) Special Exhibition space.

From the Wilkinson Eyre Architects Statement : "The existing building is in one of the most historically sensitive parts of the city, and is part of a series of buildings forming one of the most memorable urban ‘set pieces’ in the United Kingdom. The transformation of the New Bodleian into an exciting and dynamic resource for the university and the general public will serve to better integrate the building into this wider complex and encourage greater access and engagement."

Looking up at the ceiling of the Benson and Forsyth Millennium Wing extension to the National Gallery, Dublin.
This is an alternative version of a previous upload. Here I've deliberately flattened the tones to reduce the image to a series of abstract shapes. In the blue version below I wanted to emphasize the texture of the concrete.
