A still photo cannot convey the atmosphere of the Jemaa el-Fna square very well but as the sun sets the sounds become a cacophonous combination of people singing and shouting, musical instruments, mopeds, chanting etc. I did take a few short videos using my DSLR, maybe I should consider uploading my first one to flickr.

I wish now I'd taken more photos of the back alleys of Marrakesh. I think I didn't because my photography style is more suited to clean lines and formal compositions, something you don't get too much of in situations like this.

A Moroccan Tour Guide at the Ben Youssef Medersa Islamic School.

I'm very good at reading all the guidebooks before I go to a place and then hardly glancing at them whilst visiting the destination, other than maybe for a restaurant recommendation. One day it would be nice to travel somewhere and employ a guide to give me all the stories and info whilst I'm left to happily snap away.

Despite the awkward lack of a shared language this Berber woman made us feel very at home in her house, it's amazing how much can be communicated with smiles and a bit of pointing.
