I was on my way to the airport when I spotted these posters on a building site hoarding in Copenhagen which were almost certainly the the work of the Street Artist Shepard Fairey, the guy best known for the Barrack Obama 'Hope' image.

From Wikipedia : "Frank Shepard Fairey (born February 15, 1970) is an American contemporary graphic designer, and illustrator who emerged from the skateboarding scene. He first became known for his "André the Giant Has a Posse" (…OBEY…) sticker campaign, in which he appropriated images from the comedic supermarket tabloid Weekly World News. His work became more widely known in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, specifically his Barack Obama "Hope" poster. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston calls him one of today's best known and most influential street artists. His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London."

For one of the nights of our 10th Anniversary trip to London we stayed at 'The Hoxton' ( very nice and great value for money) which gave us a great opportunity to discover a little corner of London I've not previously visited. Not big on traditional 'sights' the area is full of great street art (or as some people might consider it, mindless vandalism) such as the exterior of the Red Gallery by Eine seen here.

Having done my research, I can tell you this painting on a pair of gates on Buxton St, just off Brick Lane, is a collaboration between Conor Harrington and fellow Irish street artist Maser.

More info here : bablu121.wordpress.com/2013/04/26/conor-harrington-and-ma... & here : www.hookedblog.co.uk/2013/04/maser-conor-harringinton-new...

Uploading shots of amazing Street Art feels a bit like cheating, 99% of the credit obviously must go to the original artists which is why I always try to find out who they are.

A shot from Brick Lane itself, as opposed to one of the side streets, the sandwich board making a very witty comment on the commercialisation of Street Art. If anyone knows who either of these pieces are by please feel free to let me know so I can credit them.

'Agency Job (Gleaners)' by Banksy. A remix of an original painting by Jean-Francois Millet.

Amongst all of the Banksy works in the 'Banksy versus Bristol Museum' Exhibition I found the most effective (for me anyway) were the paintings scattered throughout the Museums permanent Collection, and particularly those that commented on 'Museum Culture'.

Seen in Explore - Aug 20, 2009 #237 - Cheers Banksy !
