Admittedly a sq crop from a shot of St Stephens Basilica I uploaded a couple of days ago but I thought this best showcased how well the shot turned out. Taken at 800 ISO, it's also a good reminder I don't need to upgrade my Nikon D300s just yet.

Back from my trip to Lisbon, photos from there to follow at some point. First I've more from my May trip to Denmark to upload, starting with some more shots of the amazing Fredriksborg Castle.

More photos from my trip : www.flickr.com/photos/darrellg/albums/72157656314165922

From Wikipedia : "Frederiksborg Castle (Danish: Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. Situated on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style.

After a serious fire in 1859, the castle was rebuilt on the basis of old plans and paintings. Thanks to public support and the brewer J. C. Jacobsen, the building and its apartments were fully restored by 1882 when it was reopened to the public as the Danish Museum of National History. Open throughout the year, the museum contains the largest collection of portrait paintings in Denmark. It also provides visitors with an opportunity to visit several of the castle's state rooms including the restored Valdemar Room and Great Hall as well as the Chapel and the Audience Chamber which were both largely spared by the fire and contain sumptuous decorations."

This spiral stair in one of the Sagrada Familia towers proved a bit of a challenge to photograph. This was taken wide open, at 1/30th of a second at 1600 ISO and I had to wait a while for the stair to be clear of people. A tripod would've helped but it wouldn't have been the easiest place to set one up.

I've put together a reasonably priced 'Blurb' book of my best Barcelona photos, click here for details :

Taken inside Bath Abbey en-route to Devon, this is one of my favourite shots from our recent trip.

I do love my 11-17mm Tamron lense. Having such a wide angle of view means you can handhold it down to some very low shutter speeds, useful in most architectural interior shots. Bath Abbey, in contrast to most English Cathedrals, was quite brightly illuminated by the tall Perpendicular Gothic windows.

Exeter Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in the city of Exeter, Devon, in the southwest of England and the seat of the bishop of Exeter. The present building was complete by about 1400, and has the longest uninterrupted vaulted ceiling in England. (source : Wikipedia)
