Sunset panorama from Umag beach in Istria.
I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to photograph the sun with a 300mm lense until it's nearly set or partially covered by cloud but just in case I composed the sunset shots using the live view facility anyway.

And back to the hill towns of Istria. I haven't corrected the converging verticals here as I liked the really wideangle view showing the town square of Oprtalj, a lovely little hill town in Istria. A polariser has ensured the buildings stand out against a dark blue sky.

Originally I asked my daughter to throw stones into the sea to add interest to the shot below but I thought they were interesting enough in their own right for a close-up.

Having been looking at the previous upload today for a while now I've realised what it needed was a good sq crop. At the time I really liked the dark foreground but now I feel it unbalances the composition, does anyone else agree ?

We didn't have long in Pula, the largest town in Istria , but we did have time to visit the large Roman amphitheatre which was surprisingly well preserved.
From Wikipedia : "The Pula Arena is the name of the amphitheatre located in Pula, Croatia. The Arena is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers and with all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved. It was constructed in 27 BC - 68 AD and is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the World. A rare example among the 200 Roman surviving amphitheatres of unique technological solutions. It is also the best preserved ancient monument in Croatia."
