Some might argue I've taken the post-production applied to this Orchid shot a stage (or two) too far, depending on my mood at the tie I might even agree with them. It's an experiment really as I'm looking for shots for the Oxford Flickr group Botanical Gardens exhibition in a few months time, I'd therefore be interested to hear what you think, whether positive or negative.

Taken last weekend at the Cotswold Lavender Farm at Snowshill, I've used a telephoto to compress the perspective of these rows of different varieties of lavender. I've artificially reduced the depth of field in Photoshop by adding additional blur to the background flowers in an attempt to increase the compositional effect of the various layers.

The farm is well worth a visit if you don't live too far away and the good news is that the bad weather has delayed the harvest this year so you've got a couple of weeks still (check though before making a long journey and then getting there and finding just a few stalks sticking out of the ground).
