Another from last weeks pre-Flickrmeet wander round Oxford. Queens Lane runs East-West so it's always a great spot for some backlit people shots (and because there's nowhere for them to escape my lens)

"Honeycomb," "stalactite," or "mocárabe" vaulting in the Hall of the Abencerrajes.

'The Sala de los Abencerrajes (Hall of the Abencerrages) derives its name from a legend according to which the father of Boabdil, last king of Granada, having invited the chiefs of that line to a banquet, massacred them here. This room is a perfect square, with a lofty dome and trellised windows at its base. The roof is decorated in blue, brown, red and gold, and the columns supporting it spring out into the arch form in a remarkably beautiful manner.' (Source : Wikipedia)

A combination of Negative films wide latitude and careful scanning has just about captured the extreme contrast present on the side of this fishing boat on Lock Linnhe, near Fort William. I wonder how my Nikon D200 would cope witht he same scene now ? I suppose you'd have to shoot RAW, make several exposures and them create some kind of composite shot.

Here is the Rambla de Mar extension of the Rambla, lit by the last of the late afternoon sunlight.

From Wikipedia : "Port Vell (Literally 'Old Harbour' in Catalan) is a waterfront harbour in Barcelona, Spain. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories. 16 million people visit the complex each year.

It is now a focal point of the city and tourist attraction, containing the Maremàgnum (a mall containing shops, a multiplex cinema, bars and restaurants), IMAX Port Vell and Europe's largest aquarium containing 8000 Fish and 11 sharks contained in 22 basins filled with 6 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of sea water. A pedestrian bridge, Rambla de Mar, connects La Rambla to Port Vell. The bridge is a Swing Bridge, in order to allow ships to enter and exit the harbour."
