My search for the perfect Radcliffe Camera shot goes on.... This one is a square format crop from a shot I took five years ago, originally the building was a bit small in the frame, necessary to give me enough space around the subject to be able to correct the converging verticals. I think this works better as the reduced amount of foreground and sky mean the shot is simpler. I think it would make for a good (square format) postcard now ?

From Wikipedia : "The Radcliffe Camera(Camera, meaning "room" in Italian)(colloquially, "Rad Cam"; "Radder" in 1930s slang) is a building in Oxford, England, designed by James Gibbs in the English Palladian style and built in 1737–1749 to house the Radcliffe Science Library.....

The building is the earliest example in England of a circular library. It is built in three main stages externally and two stories internally, the upper one containing a gallery. The ground stage is heavily rusticated and has a series of eight pedimented projections alternating with niches. The central stage is divided into bays by coupled Corinthian columns supporting the continuous entablature. The pedimented windows stand above mezzanine openings, reflecting the interior arrangement. The top stage is a lanterned dome on an octagonal drum, with a balustraded parapet with vases."

A quintessentially English closing time at rear gate of Christ Church, Oxford.

As a fellow Flickrer has pointed out, 'The form "Christ Church College" is considered incorrect, in part because it ignores the cathedral, although it has historically been acceptable' (source : Wikipedia).

Alice may not actually be her name, the title somehow suggested itself to me as it felt like the girl had shrunk.

I took this last week whilst hanging round Oxford waiting for a Flickrmeet. I hadn't taken many photos in Oxford recently but last Thursday the light was inspiring and I began seeing new shots everywhere.

The end of the Summer (or Trinity) University Term is probably my favourite time to be taking photos in Oxford. The long Summer evenings provide fertile 'hunting' opportunities for shots of students enjoying their final days in this wonderful city.

Finally finished uploading my Turkey shots, for a family holiday I had a surprisingly large number of shots I wanted to upload, particularly considering we hardly we only left the hotel complex three times during the whole week. Upload subject-wise it's probably going to be a bit random for a while as I skim my ever growing backlog for suitable shots. I promise you all some architecture stuff soon though....

I thought I'd upload this as it's interesting to see the effect of a different tone applied to this panorama of Oxfords famous 'Dreaming Spires' from South Park. The blue tint gives a completely different feel and I'm not sure which I prefer. I'd be interested in your thoughts.
