View from a rooftop restaurant of a big delivery in Durbar Square, Kathmandu.

More photos from the trip here : www.flickr.com/photos/darrellg/albums/72157709610673461

From Wikipedia : "Kathmandu Durbar Square (Basantapur Darbar Kshetra) in front of the old royal palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom is one of three Durbar (royal palace) Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Several buildings in the Square collapsed due to a major earthquake on 25 April 2015. Durbar Square was surrounded with spectacular architecture and vividly showcases the skills of the Newar artists and craftsmen over several centuries. The Royal Palace was originally at Dattaraya square and was later moved to the Durbar square.

The Kathmandu Durbar Square held the palaces of the Malla and Shah kings who ruled over the city. Along with these palaces, the square surrounds quadrangles, revealing courtyards and temples. It is known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, a name derived from a statue of Hanuman, the monkey devotee of Lord Ram, at the entrance of the palace."

Having seen a statue on Montjuic hill showing the Sardana being performed this was a shot I'd pre-visualized before attempting to take photos of the real thing. To me it sums up the Catalan unity the dance is meant to embody. Getting the shot however proved somewhat more difficult as not only does the circle of dancers turn in a circle it also grows and grows as people join in.

From Wikipedia : "The sardana, plural sardanes, is a type of circle dance typical of Catalonia, Spain. The dance was originally typical from the Empordà region, but started gaining popularity throughout Catalonia during the 20th century.

There are two main types, the original sardana curta (short sardana) style and the more modern sardana llarga (long sardana), which is more popular. Other more unusual sardanes are the sardana de lluïment and the sardana revessa."

Not sure how naked this vaguely Steampunk looking guy had been earlier but what you can't see out of frame is a large sound-system on a bike trailer which had accompanied the 1500 cyclists of the London World Naked Bike Ride 2014.

I love the way his hair (it may be a wig ?) is so orange my camera couldn't cope and the details are completely blown.......

From Wikipedia : "The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse on human-powered transport (the vast majority on bicycles, but some on skateboards and inline skates), to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world."

The dress code motto is "bare as you dare". Full or partial nudity is encouraged, but not mandatory. There is no mandate to cover intimate parts; this is a distinguishing feature of the WNBR against other cycling events.

Creative expression is also encouraged to generate a fun and immersive atmosphere during the ride, capture the attention and imagination of the public and media, and make the experience more personalized and fulfilling for the riders. Body art, such as body painting, are common forms of creative expression, as well as costumes, art bikes, portable sound reinforcement systems (such as public address systems, bullhorns and boomboxes) and musical instruments or other types of noisemaker."

I had to wait a while to get this because the pathway between the pools this couple are walking down is rarely used, except by those people walking round the Pyramid. Having spent a while watching people I can confirm that most walk through the Louvre, few really get to appreciate I.M.Pei's design by circumnavigating it.

The small park next to the recently re-opened Cutty Sark makes for a great spot for lunch in Greenwich, in the background you can just see the new glass building that envelopes the hull .
