I thought the uncropped version of this shot of the infinity pool at the Paloma Club Sultan was one of my favourite shots from my trip to Turkey last week, but a square crop and bit of extra contrast later and now I have a new front runner. Think it's quite possible one of the most beautiful photos I've taken.....

Don't tell anyone in case they're offended but I've had to flip this shot horizontally as when I took it the wind was blowing in the wrong direction and the Turkish flag was back to front. The statue is that of Attaturk, the founder of modern Turkey, and they can be found in most towns and Cities throughout Turkey (and villages, hamlets etc.....)

From Wikipedia : "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was an Ottoman and Turkish army officer, revolutionary statesman, writer, and the first President of Turkey. He is credited with being the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Atatürk was a military officer during World War I. Following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, he led the Turkish national movement in the Turkish War of Independence. Having established a provisional government in Ankara, he defeated the forces sent by the Allies. His military campaigns gained Turkey independence. Atatürk then embarked upon a program of political, economic, and cultural reforms, seeking to transform the former Ottoman Empire into a modern, westernized and secular nation-state. The principles of Atatürk's reforms, upon which modern Turkey was established, are referred to as Kemalism."

The first upload from my recent trip to Turkey (and more embarrassingly this is only about the 6th photo I've uploaded from 2011 and we're nearly half way through). Whilst it was a family holiday spent with my family doing family type things I think I've quite a few worth uploading such as this spiral stair found in our hotel.
