Richard Meier was a very unfashionable Architect when I was at College though I could never understand why. His buildings always looked good in photos and rarely disappointed when visited.

It seems a bit obstruse of the Architect Richard Meier to create a wall of South facing glass, particularly in a Mediterranean climate, and then cover it in brise-soleil. It does however create a dynamic internal space for the ramped circulation.

As I said on one of my previous uploads it seems somewhat perverse to create a Southerly facing glazed facade and then have to place a great big brise-soleil in front of it. Having said that, In this shot you can see the great shadows it creates when the Sun shines though.

Not quite as wide a view as my previous upload so it's easier to see the Monastery easier but perhaps leading to a less impressive photo overall as it crops the sky. I've also warmed the colours up here to give a more accurate approximation of the pinkish / red sandstone rocks that forms the Montserrat peaks.
From Wikipedia : "Montserrat, whose name means serrated mountain, is 48 kilometers (approx 30 miles) west of Barcelona, and can be reached by road, train/cable car. At 1236 meters (4055 ft) above the valley floor, Montserrat is the highest point of the Catalan lowlands, and stands central to the most populated part of Catalonia. The stone monolith is ideally located to play an important role in the cultural and spiritual life of Catalonia."

A slick Eighties style Office block near the Joan Miro Park. I'm not a fan of this style of Architecture but they do sometimes provide some interesting reflections.
