Some pictures from Roots Hall of the League 1 clash between Southend United & Plymouth Argyle.

The game finished in a 3-2 for Argyle but that doesnt illustrate how utterly in control the away team were. Southend scored from a soft pnelaty and an increidble shot form inside his own half by a 17 year old debutant! If the home side had tried as hard for the first 85 minutes as they did for the last 5 they would have got something.

From the BBC website:

Plymouth withstood a late Southend fightback - including a goal from inside his own half by 17-year-old debutant Charlie Kelman - to triumph in their League One clash at Roots Hall.

Kelman came off the bench for his first appearance in senior football in the 71st minute and lobbed Argyle keeper Kyle Letheren in stoppage time.

The Pilgrims had been leading 3-0 with only five minutes remaining.

They broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when a poor defensive header from Stephen Hendrie enabled Antoni Sarcevic to confidently fire a low shot into the bottom left corner.

Freddie Ladapo was then denied by Shrimpers goalkeeper Nathan Bishop when clean through on goal but, four minutes into the second half, the striker strode onto David Fox's long ball forward before firing home.

The third came in the 73rd minute with a close-range effort from Ruben Lameiras, before Southend replied with an 85th-minute penalty from Simon Cox.

Then came Kelman's moment of magic, but Plymouth hung on to move within a point of climbing out of the League One relegation zone.
