Pictures taken at Giant Axe of the match between Lancaster City and Darlington in the Evo-Stik League Division One North. The match finished in a drab 0-0 draw with few chances for either side.

As you can see the fabulously named and picturesque Giant Axe is overlooked by Lancaster Castle & Priory and the railway station – In fact it is the closest ground I have ever seen to a railway station. I left at 16:55 and made the 16:58 train home!

Lancaster are nicknamed the dolly blues as their original kit was coloured the same colour as laundry (dolly) blue products which are used to keep your whites crystal white!

Lancaster City are currently managed by former QPR, Newcastle United & Blackburn Rovers defender Darren Peacock and they were a friendly and welcoming club with a nice ground who went out of their way to make Darlo fans welcome. Their average gate this season is 171- yesterday it was 594
