I spent three consecutive mornings getting to a patch of mud in Krabi Town, Thailand, just before sunrise.
Each visit I spent a couple of hours living in the mud with these guys.
It's messy work but very rewarding when you see the action unfold around you (or on you!) as they display to each other, dig burrows and even fight!
This one is chilling whilst half heartedly displaying - it was a little late in the morning by this stage and tempers were starting to calm down as more of the 'skippers were just filter feeding on the mud.
It's not a species I've seen much attention given to before so I really went for it and have a good number of photos to share!

A presumable male displaying to a smaller female in the foreground.
Or a larger female warning off a smaller a male from her nesting burrow...
Who knows! Any help on mudskipper courtship is welcome as I haven't had the chance to read up on it!
Taken in Krabi, Thailand. Spent a lot of time lying in the mud until they accepted me and behaved naturally!

Relaxing on a high point in the relatively flat mud - they would often do this after chasing a rival away...Must be a pride thing!
