My first experience in astro-photography. Clear skies are quite rare in Dubai, and it is also very difficult to avoid light pollution, clearly visible here on the horizon.

For the first time since I bought my D800, I took it for a ride in the desert. I must admit that it is tough to shoot in the desert, for several reasons: tough physically, walking up and down those dunes with the camera gear is tiring, it's challenging to find an interesting composition, you must be careful not to leave your foot steps in the area you might want to shoot, it's all about light and shadows, hence you have to shoot in relatively harsh light to get nice shadows and contrasts, I also have lots of shots with lens flare (the 14-24mm is really bad for that).

My dear friends, as you might have noticed, I am not very much active on flickr those days! However, this morning I managed to wake up at 4am, then drove to the desert to shoot the sunrise, the morning temperature was 22 C, almost feeling cool! (in Dubai it still goes up to 34 C during the day).

Hello my Dear Friends, I have not been very active on flickr lately. I am still in the middle of a 'flickr break', but wanted to post this shot I took today just to say hello.
I am going for a short holiday trip to Bangkok next Thursday where I'll meet my good buddy Grant (grantthai). It's my first trip back to SE Asia since I moved to Dubai 8 months ago. Looking forward to it.
