My friends in Reunion Island will definitely know that this is a composite image! 😀
The wreck is the Isla Mauricia ship which was washed ashore in Grand Baie Beach, Mauritius, back in 2013. Unfortunately it has been dismantled since.
To keep it 'realistic', I used a backdrop scene which was shot in Cap La Houssaye, Reunion Island, in the moonlight, which 'explains' the light on the boat and the not so visible milky way.
The cutout of the ship was quite tedious, as there are so many ropes hanging around. It took me a few hours to achieve this.
I always wanted to shoot a boat wreck under the milky way, so here it is!
