The Alps surrounding the lake. The buildings you can see belong to Seelisberg.
It's a lake with many names: in German it is Vierwaldstättersee, in Italian Lago dei Quattro Cantoni, in French Lac des Quatre-Cantons, in Romansh Lai dals Quatter Chantuns, and in English Lake Lucerne. Lucerne (also known as Luzern) is situated by the lake, but still not a spot-on translation of any of the local names. But on the other hand, the Swiss names are not really spot on either since there are five (and not four) cantons bordering on the lake.
