This is the ruins of the Château Mennechet - began around 1880 by the wealthy Alphonse Mennechet de Barival, a collector of fine arts, who wanted a place to show his belongings. When he died in 1903 (aged 90) the place wasn't finished and his collection donated to the town Saint-Quentin. It would seem that the château was never properly finished, and it got damaged both in the first and the second world war. After the bombardments of the last war, the château was completely abandoned and it was plans for tearing the place down. But in 2008 the ruins were cleared by new owners and even though you can't visit the place (it's a private property) you can get a good view of it from the street below.
