We visited the Natural Bridge last night to see the glow worms and while I was hopeful, I wasn't expecting much (it being very popular with tourists).
However, it was totally magical. Not only were there large colonies of these critters in the Natural Arch cave, but they were throughout the forest, on embankments, tucked under logs, all over the place.

A tiny bird that tends to feed is flocks. This one was in the same area as some Superb Fairy-wrens that I was chasing, but I couldn't pass up this close shot.

This frogmouth chick is a bit over a week old and still adorably fluffy. One of the parents was on a branch nearby, keeping a good eye on me.

Shot through thin cloud cover, this was the moon in partial ecipse. By the time it got to totality, we had thicker clouds and it wasn't visible any more.

I visited Sir John Chandler Park this afternoon. It was a bit hit and miss during the day as to whether we'd have sunshine or not, but there was a break in the clouds and everything fell in to place.
There were only the one pair of bee-eaters in the usual spot today, but that was enough (well, until a jetski went past and they flew off).
