The former Amador County Courthouse in Jackson was originally built in 1863 in Romanesque style. It was ultimately remodeled 1939 under the designs of architect George Sellon. The WPA provided workers for the remodeling effort, and now it is an Art-Moderne structure.
The structure is a contributing property to the Jackson Downtown Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
