It was built with stones taken from the nearby roman city of Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetuza, as well as from the old Dacian capital of Sarmisegetuza Regia.
Therefore, I do not believe it used to be a Roman temple before becoming a church, as stated in the wikipedia article (I don't think the Romans would use their own city as a quarry).

You can see on the roof two stone lions taken from the gate of the Roman city of Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetusa, the capital of the Roman province of Dacia.

The stela was found on the site of Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetusa, the capital of Roman Dacia.
The text is a prayer to the Manes: "Manes! To Lucius Cassius Marcius, augustal in the colonia who has lived for 70 years and to Cassia Cassiana who has lived for 19 years. By Cassia Rufina in memory of her dear husband and daughter.
The "colonia" in the text above is not the same as "colony": it is the status of a city in teh Roman Empire (the highest status).
