Last one from Nanning before everybody gets bored...
Minge Lake (民歌湖) and the related "Minge Lake Scenic Area" (民歌湖景区) are mainly an artificial lake and park between the older parts of Nanning and the newly developed "new city center" to the east of old Nanning.
Nanning is developing fast, as most Chinese Cities. Despite being aware of this it was quite a surprise for me at this 2014 re-visit - at my last visit in 2004 nothing of this "new city center" was there at all, there was just a main road, some hills and fields...
And what is now Minge Lake was the Minge Square where the annual Nanning Folksong Festival was held, a huge semi-natural amphitheatre.
