They are common breeding birds in MA and one of the early spring migrants. Seeing them makes me happy, as it indicates spring is just around the corner. This photo was taken few minutes before the sun hit the bird. There was a pair that probably was just resting after a long migration. Her mate was nearby keeping a close watch on me. Sony A9II performed extremely well at ISO 8000.

Killdeer in the golden light. They are common breeding birds in MA and one of the early spring migrants. Seeing them makes me happy, as it indicates spring is just around the corner. I found this pair as the sun was rising behind me. Lying down on the ground allowed me to get the eye contact and also include the beautiful glow on the distant trees in the background. This was my first shot with Sony A9II and 200-600mm G lens + 1.4x TC. Extremely happy with the performance of this combo.
