Claudia G. Kukulka / 632 items
The Gleichberge are a small inselberg-like mountain range. The small Gleichberg reaches up to 641 m and the Large Gleichberg up to 679 m above sea level. They are located in the state of Thuringia. The Large Gleichberg is 15 million years old and consists of alkaliolivin basalt. Both are part of a Cenozoic volcanic system and while they have not retained their volcanic form, their former activity can be measured by their fissures called mineral veins. During the Cold War, the Large Gleichberg featured a radar station of the Red Army.
