A simple tree silhouette at sundown.
These evening colors are what we often see in the evening over Lake Michigan at sunset. The sun rises directly over the Lake, but sets behind me in the west.
So what you're seeing here is the setting sun's reflected light on the the opposite horizon and Lake surface. A soft and pastel glow, and one I've come to treasure over the years.
This pink-layered phenomenon is called the Belt of Venus and it occurs for up to 20 minutes both before sunrise and before sunset. Depending on the particulates in the air, sometime it is very visible and other times hardly visible. What a treat to see!
