Longwood Gardens in early August is — for lack of a better description — so full of summer. Probably my most favorite time to visit. Since I took my usual hundreds of photos, I thought it might be nice to share them with you in slideshows (thinking you might not recognize it as a photo dump, lol ;-)
The day presented times of clouds and times of sun, and was warm but not too hot, with a nice breeze. Since I brought only my under-used macro lens, that breeze wasn’t ideal for my handheld shots, but I’m hoping you won’t notice.
Today I’m posting the first two — there are five in all.

This first one features the journey from the Rose Arbor garden, to the Flower Garden Drive, then along to the Flower Garden Walk and Theater Garden plantings.

Just a side note… I almost didn’t go with my plans to post today, after hearing the news of the passing of my flickr friend Regina’s beloved cat Cleo. It’s been such a rough year, full of loss and troubling events. Even Longwood got caught up in the news, with an escaped convict taking refuge on the property, causing days of closures and lots of frayed nerves until he was apprehended.
It’s also been dreary and raining here for what seems like ages. If you’re finding the same where you are, I hope you get some time to relax and enjoy the ‘floral distractions’… ;-)
