The Brâncovenesc style /brɨŋkovenesk/, also known as Wallachian Renaissance and Romanian Renaissance, is an art and architectural style that evolved during the administration of Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Brâncoveanu was an administrator of the Principality of Wallachia (between 1688 and 1714) under Ottoman Empire overlords, an extremely wealthy aristocrat, and a builder of fine palaces and churches.

Prislop Monastery is situated 13 km away from Hațeg, Hunedoara County, at an altitude of 580 m. The monastery is surrounded by the forested hills of Southern Carpathians . It is a place of pilgrimage.
One of the oldest and most important ecclesiastical monuments in Transylvania, it was built in the second half of the 14th century by Saint Nicodim. In 1762, the Prislop Monastery was nearly destroyed by a fire. In 1948, the restoration process was led by Arsenie Boca, a famous Romanian ecclesiastic artist and priest, who was buried at the monastery. People from all over the country come to visit his grave.

Set in a forest at an altitude of 640 m, Prislop monastery is surrounded by hills that descend into gentle slopes close up to the monument.It has been said, rightly, that a road on the “Hateg Country” is “a way” or “a down” in history. Human life has continually pulsed these wonderful places, from the Paleolithic man, whose traces were discovered in caves at Ohaba Ponor and Cioclovina, located in the village Silvaşu de Sus, in Hunedoara County, at the foot of the Parâng Mountains and is at the midst of the most beautiful scenery comprising the forests of Silvaşu.
