dry creek falls... Oregon...
The sheer vertical walls that invert at the mouth of this waterfall were a site to behold... Definitely an awesome place...

That's what ten seconds can do...

We climbed up to the top of a very high, yet safe sea stack to shoot this. (Thanks to Marc Adamus and his knowledge of the current tides)... It was a moving experience to be in the presence of waves like this. The sound and power of huge waves crashing against gigantic basalt rock formations on the shore was breathtaking... Unfortunately, there is nothing in this shot to show a sense of scale or size... I'll just say that the largest rock on the far left was roughly the height of a 3-story building... Hopefully that can put things into perspective...

I have some shots taken at 1/4th sec that really show the motion of the crashing waves. Hopefully I can go through them soon and post my best ones...

1Ds3 - 24-105 @ 32mm - f10 - ISO 200 - B+W 10 stop solid ND - 10 second exposure.

thanks for looking :)

Hoh Rainforest, Washington...

It's said that less than 5% of the sun's light reaches this part of the rainforest... But when it does, sometimes there is enough rising mist to give the light some new visual life and definition...

This was one of the hardest places to photograph, and I believe this to be my only decent photograph from the hike... (This actual scene only lasted about 20 seconds, before the mist rose and dissipated.) Hopefully I can pull another one or two usable shots out of the 4 gigs worth I took there...
