365!!!
So here we are at the end of the year and at the end of my 2014 365 project. It’s been a pretty good year. I got to travel a bit, made some new friends, showed my art. It’s hard to really express what these 365 project have meant to me over the last three years. Being a photographer has become such a part of my identity, I feel that I don’t want to stop. Not yet anyway. There were times throughout the year that I felt like it was pointless to go on. If anything, this project has been an exercise in patience and perseverance. My satisfaction came and went in waves. Through it all though, I always felt that if I just kept at it, my best photo ever could be right around the corner. If I were to quit, I would deny myself the chance to be surprised at what I am capable of. I think it’s easy for us humans to feel that our best work is behind us. I chose to believe that the best is yet to come, but it won’t happen unless I keep putting the work in. And it IS work, but a work that I love. :)
I had a few real photography landmarks this year. One of my photos was the cover image for an industry trade magazine. After eight years on Flickr, I reached one million views. Throughout the year, my prints were on display somewhere. Either in a coffee shop, a restaurant, local art shows, and all through November and December they were hung at the KGNU radio studio in Boulder. So all and all, it was a great year for me and my camera.
As much as anything though, I am thankful of my friends and acquaintances here on Flickr. Your comments and faves are usually the currency in which I judge myself. Although my responses aren’t as quick or often as they use to be, your interactions with my images are always noticed and greatly appreciated. So thank you. :)
