My husband is turning 71 this Friday and, a day later, he will be running the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. As you may, or may not, remember he was supposed to run it last year but the race was canceled due to forest fires in the area. Well, this year it's a "go". So please keep your fingers crossed for my guy. He'll be one of only three runners over 70 and I'm so proud of him. Well, it's been quite a weekend. Paul, my husband was running the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run and made it through grueling heat in the Eastern Sierras for 26 hours but was pulled for being 9 minutes past the cutoff at the check point 15 miles before the finish. Here's a shot of our little support group (minus one friend who was trying to get some sleep after spending the night running with Paul). Thanks for all the support, guys. We're going to sleep well tonight. (By the way, this was shot a little after Paul was pulled - he's second from the left). Mostly due to the heat, almost half of the 400+ runners dropped from the race.

Scott Jurek has won the WS100 seven times - took a break for a year or two and decided to come back this year. He also decided to drop shortly after this photo was taken and I had absolutely nothing to do with it ;-).
(I'm now seeing this on a friend's computer and it's way too dark - gotta get that laptop calibrated. This looks aweful - sorry, guys).
