As a matter of fact, Mission San Luis Rey was not an easy one to shoot at all. Apart from the fact that they tell you that you can't shoot indoors (why not - I'm not using a flash?), some guy took it upon himself to become the "photograph nazi", correcting anybody who dared pull out a camera, let alone little ole me with a camera and a tripod. I guess there are people like that everywhere. It's not like I was trying to bring down the mission or anything.

One more mission to go before I have completed my "mission mission". California has 21 of them and I cannot begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed the journey. Those determined missionaries and the Indians that helped them build these beautiful sanctuaries along the Camino Real (and sometimes a long way from the highway) are to be admired. The whole process took place within a some 80 years before things starting deteriorating rapidly but thanks to a lot of people's hard work and dedication these old missions came out of disrepair and total ruin to stand as proud testaments to human endurance.
