This is of one of my favourite birds.......and of course it is not really a Turkey
These birds were virtually unknown in Sydney until about 8 years ago. Since then they have had a population explosion, almost certainly as a result of a major decline in Fox numbers. Foxes are not native to Australia and are a major killer of our native wildlife. This fellow was in my garden, as they are for short periods on most days.

These small skinks with a snout to vent length of about 40 mm., normally look dull brown in colour with a narrow, golden, dorso-lateral stripe. It is only when photographed that one can see bluish shades.
They are vertically compressed which allows them to fit into narrow spaces behind bark or in brick or rock walls
