I took this a couple of years ago but never really felt like processing it. Then it just kind of jumped out at me from the "to be processed" pile today. I'm still not sure about it, but I do remember feeling how amazing the light was when I was photographing the scene. This is in Silver Falls State Park.

Milky Way panorama at Castle Butte, Valley of the Gods, Bears Ears Nat’l Monument, Utah with two of my friends, Steve Bunderson and Roger Nedel. What a night! It was a very clear and beautiful, thanks in part to 60 mph wind gusts that blew over 2 cameras; but, we continued on using bags of rocks, hanging from our tripods!

I photographed this about a month ago, stitching together 2 rows of exposures, one for the sky - 6 exposures @ 13 sec each • f/2 • ISO 6400; and 6 exposures for the foreground @ 30 sec each • f/2 • ISO 6400 - all with a 24mm Rokinon f/1.4, on a Canon 5DM3 (in a vertical or portrait position, with a 50% overlap for each exposure).
