Female Plains-wanderer, Pedionomus torquatus, 17 - 19 cm. / 6.69 - 7.48 in. ENDANGERED and RARE. Photographed in the headlights on the plains around 11:15 in the evening. The male averages 2 cm. smaller.

Female Plains-wanderer, Pedionomus torquatus, 17 - 19 cm. / 6.69 - 7.48in. RARE and ENDANGERED. Calling to an answering male. We were careful of disturbing a nest nearby to not hinder the efforts being put in to protect these endangered birds.

Female Plains-wanderer, Pedionomus torquatus, 17 - 19 cm. / 6.69 - 7.48 in. ENDANGERED and RARE. By torch light on the plains. ENDEMIC bird that was a highlight of the trip! Shot around 11:30 pm.

Regent Honeyeater, Anthochaera (Xanthomyza) phrygia, 20 - 24 cm. / 7.87 - 9.4 in. RARE and ENDANGERED ENDEMIC of open forest and box-ironbark woodland. Feeding on eucalyptus flowers.

Lesser Adjutant, Leptoptilos javanicus, 110 - 120 cm. / 43 - 47.2 in. GLOBALLY THREATENED. Widespread resident in lowland marshes, forest pools, flooded fields, lakes and drying up river beds. Handheld.
